OVERVIEW What does this qualification cover?

This qualification covers the advanced practical skills and knowledge required to work in the monitoring and the continued improvement of manufacturing processes within manufacturing industry. The following areas are covered within this qualification:

  • • Complying with statutory regulations and organisational safety requirements

  • • Leading effective teams • Applying workplace organisation techniques

  • • Applying continuous improvement techniques (Kaizen)

  • • Developing visual management systems

  • • Creating flexible production and manpower systems

  • • Carrying out problem solving activities

  • • Analysing and selecting parts for improvement

  • • Applying lead time analysis

  • • Carrying out value stream mapping (VSM)

  • • Applying set-up reduction techniques

  • • Applying total productive maintenance (TPM)

  • • Applying flow process analysis

  • • Applying Policy Deployment (Hoshin Kanri, quality operating systems, business plan deployment)

  • • Applying value management (value engineering and value analysis)

  • • Creating standard operating procedures (SOP)

  • • Applying Six Sigma methodology to a project

  • • Carrying out Six Sigma process mapping

  • • Applying basic statistical analysis

  • • Applying failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA)

  • • Applying mistake/error proofing (Poka Yoke)

  • • Carrying out statistical process control (SPC) procedures

  • • Applying Six Sigma metrics to a project 

All learners will take a mixture of mandatory and optional units depending on their role within the monitoring and continued improvement process 

Who could take this qualification? This qualification is suitable for those who wish to pursue a career in continuous improvement roles within manufacturing industry. Ideally you should already have completed the Level 2 Diploma in Business Improvement qualification or have an understanding of the basic concepts and principles involved in continuous improvement techniques within manufacturing industry
