awarding bodies are; City & Guilds and The Institute of Leadership and
Management.
Fundamentally the NVQ assessment process is gained and delivered within
the workplace with minimal disruption to the learner or employers daily
routine.
The Assessment uses mainly naturally occurring evidence, such as Job
Cards, work orders, witness testimony etc.
A qualified assessor with industry based knowledge will visit the
workplace on pre-arranged dates/times, while recognizing the need for
flexibility required by the employer.
The number of visits required will in some way be governed by the
progress of the learner; a clear plan will be agreed at the outset of
the qualification.
The NVQ consists of mandatory units and Optional units.
Following initial discussions with the employer and learner the Optional
Units are identified and chosen with the learner’s role and job
specification.
The use of creative and innovative
assessment techniques will ensure the identification of relevant and
focused evidence capture.
Where the possible
candidates do not fulfill the Train to Gain funding criteria, Aston will
work with the employer to identify a suitable alternative, this may
include, dependant on candidate numbers wishing to access the NVQ
programme, a subsidized plan.
