An NVQ is assessed and
marked in each of the following areas:
Written work and
assignments:
The written work includes
E.K.U. questions, official test papers and written assignments.
Theory work:
Work packs are designed
for each unit. These enable students to research and learn all relevant
information before being formally tested upon this. There are also
additional theory sessions carried out by the tutors.
Practical work:
When students feel
competent in a particular area, they will move on to work towards the
practical assessments, which are observed by their tutor to ensure that
all necessary requirements are met.
Each training day will
consist of a combination of practical and written work. Salon sessions
are organised to allow students to develop practical hairdressing skills
and be assessed working on real clients.
Regular demonstrations
are also incorporated into the training programme (including dressing,
cutting and technical skills). Following this, students will be able to
practice on “real heads”, but wherever possible students are encouraged
to provide their own models such as family or friends.
Models
Hairdressing
is a skill that requires constant practice and experience. Aston
endeavour to provide practical models (i.e. real clients), but it is not
always possible to arrange for the quantity or variety to cater for each
individual’s specific assessment needs. Students are therefore
encouraged to ask family and friends to make appointments. |
